Its official, Sun is releasing their Java implementation under the GNU GPLv2. This is great news for the Java and open source communities, and I can't wait to see the entire platform including Java EE and J2ME released under the GPL. Hopefully it won't be long before we start seeing Linux distros released with Sun's JRE included. On a side note, Sun also has put Duke under the BSD license.
